How to Restore Your Harley-Davidson

Harley-Davidson Big Twin OHV Cams

Sifton cams
Tom Sifton original cams have a flat-sided gear with steep bevels. Sifton cams are now made by Tedd’s Cycle, and look like stock cams as to gears etc.
A good indicator of where peak power is found is not lift, but the intake valve closing point.
All cam positions and durations appear very conservative, but are actually quite hot since the figures are given @ .053” lift. The nominal or “paper” duration is probably at least another 30°. To get a more realistic picture for comparison with other cams, add 15° to any opening or closing value, or 30° to any duration. Click on the chart to see a larger version on a separate page.
